Appliqued Owl Pillow

I know Owls are a little over done in the crafting world, but I still can’t help but love them.

Which is odd, because I’m not really a bird fan. The flapping freaks me out, and the one time I actually got up close and personal with an Owl it was flying within an inch of my head and I could feel the wind of it’s wings in my hair as I dropped for cover, making myself look like an idiot (again) during fully packed bird display.

But I really do think they are beautiful birds, and I love the idea that they’re wise, all knowing and poised with calm and serenity.

Somehow, without intention, Lil Miss P ended up with Owls in her room. Quite a few of them actually.

It kind of got away on me with the wall decals, the cot set and the lamp.

Which is probably why, when I decided to make a pillow for the nursing chair in Lil Miss P’s room, my mind went straight to owls and I ended up doodling this rather messy, not-arty-at-all Owl.

New Years Eve Present

It’s New Years Eve here today. We’re a little bit ahead of a lot of the world where I live.

New Years Eve won’t be like any of the others for us this year though. In fact I imagine it will be more like every other night because this year we have Lil Miss P.

It will likely comprise of bath, feed, bed for her. Then dinner, walk the dogs, short relax time and then bed for us too. And with only 4 hours sleep last night I’ll be ready for it!!

So New Years Eve won’t be the celebration it might have been before but I’ve still got my own little reason to celebrate.

I received this gorgeous lot today!!

20131231-085800.jpg9 charm packs. 3 each of Moda Road 15, Moda Noteworthy and Moda Shades of Black. All ordered from countrystittches2 on eBay who was so helpful and made shipping cost effective for me. Shipping costs often kill my options for buying fair priced fabric so I was thrilled to get this deal.

I can’t wait to play with this lot! I don’t have any real plans for them yet but they will be turned into quilts as part of my 2014 Craft Project list at some stage.

Happy New Years to me!!

And a VERY Happy New Years to you. Where ever you are, what ever you’re doing, be safe and take a moment to reflect on all the good that came your way in 2013. I wish you much more of that goodness in 2014 : )

Fabric Heaven

Hi, my name is Rachael, and I am an addict.

A fabric addict that is.

I can’t get enough of it. I spend hours looking through pages and pages of fabrics and no matter how often I tell myself I’m not going to order any more fabric, I always order more fabric.

There are just so many possibilities! So many colours and patterns that I love. I’m intoxicated by all the choice and next minute, my credit card is getting another pounding.

And that’s exactly what happened a week or so ago. I went on to Fabric.com ‘just to have a look’ and ended up ordering Christmas fabric, 3 soft book panels and a matching jelly roll and charm pack.

It’s lucky my husband and I have settled on an agreement that serves us both. He gets a monthly golf membership, and I get fabric money. We’re pretty frugal on most other things and don’t go out a lot or drink, smoke or gamble, so we figure this expenditure is our little reward for all our hard work.

And I do have plans for all of this fabric.
