Shark Obsession and the Amigurumi Shark
Our wee guy has a total Shark obsession.
I’m talking frantic arm waving at the TV anytime he sees anything shark related and hunting through hundreds of puzzle pieces, just to find the one shark piece at the bottom.
I don’t know how it started or where he even saw anything shark in the first place, but now we have a this total shark thing going on and it’s pretty darn cute.
Except for the part where we are constantly subjected to an absolute overdose of this song:
Which he demands be played on repeat, all.day.long by pointing at the TV and shouting Pink Fong!
Anyway, I decided since sharks are apparently his thing, that I would try to find a shark softie for him to cuddle. Unfortunately, it seems that shark softies aren’t crazy popular because I couldn’t find a single one locally.
There were a few online, but I kinda wanted one right there and then. And I have a bit of a tactile thing where I like to touch and squeeze things like soft toys, before I decide to buy. They need to FEEL right.
Then I thought, well surely I could make one.
5 minutes of Etsy later and I found an awesome Amigurumi Shark pattern by Theresa’s Crochet Shop.
Luckily I also had a stash of grey and white yarn so I could get started on it straight away.
This was a super fun project. It came together in just a few hours and was very simple to make.
And now I have another shark friend in my sights.
While browsing through Etsy I also came across this cute guy
Shark-A-Jack will be next on my hook.
But I confess, I think he’s more for me than Master L. He’s just so cute, but perhaps not as obviously a shark to an 18 month old.
I’ll let him play with him though ; )
